Before the Music Plays or the Crowd Gathers — It Starts Here
Phase II of The Ranch Master Plan is moving forward in a big way, and it’s beginning with two critical projects now out to bid:
- One to select the architecture and engineering team that will design the next generation of public venues at The Ranch
- And one for the construction of the new Great Lawn, a 20-acre outdoor destination for concerts, festivals, and community events
These bids mark a turning point in the Master Plan, where behind-the-scenes work starts turning into real spaces you will see, use, and celebrate for years to come.
Shaping What’s Next: The Architecture & Engineering (A/E) RFP
Released on June 20, this RFP will bring a design team on board to help lead some of the most exciting and impactful projects in Phase II, including:
- A brand-new Youth Sports & Hockey Complex with three ice sheets
- Expansions and upgrades to Blue Arena
- A reimagined central Event Plaza
- Concession and guest amenity upgrades across the campus
- Final design elements for the Amphitheater and Great Lawn infrastructure
This team won’t just produce drawings. They'll help shape how people move through the campus, where they gather, how the space works, and how it lasts. Their work will impact what The Ranch looks and feels like for the next generation of Northern Coloradans.
More than 130 questions have already been submitted by interested firms, a strong sign of engagement. Proposals are due by July 22, after which a selection committee made up of Ranch and Larimer County leadership, along with key stakeholders, will begin the review process.

Building a Destination: The Great Lawn
The second bid, released on July 14, is for the construction of one of the Master Plan’s signature projects: The Great Lawn.
This is more than just grass and a stage.
It’s a 20-acre outdoor destination designed to bring people together for concerts, cultural festivals, family movie nights, culinary events, and community celebrations of all kinds. With 2,000 fixed seats, lawn capacity for 40,000 more, a professional-grade permanent stage, vendor-ready pavilions, upgraded utilities, and even a teaching kitchen, this space is designed to serve the region in ways The Ranch has never before.
It’s built for flexibility, celebration, and sustainability, with a long-term goal of generating revenue to help keep other public spaces at The Ranch accessible and affordable.
Construction bids are due August 1, with groundwork anticipated to begin in fall 2025.
